When I am all heeled and recovered will I have a lump where my pacemaker is or will that all go away on time?

Lumps

You don't say how long you've had your pacemaker but it can take several months for the swelling to completely receede. After seven months, I think mine is pretty well the way it's going to be and yes, there is a fairly substantial lump. I can easily feel the can and there is maybe 1/8" of skin over it. Others don't have a lump and some have them placed under the muscle so they're pretty much guaranteed there won't be a noticable lump, though this costs them in additional healing time (and more down the line when it comes time to replace it). However, I'm a guy and don't much care about such things. ;-) The scar tissue makes (I scar badly) makes the lump pretty much unnoticable anyway. ;-)
Mine is fairly prominent...

Had my ICD put in Jan 2017, now it's Sept 2018 and mine is very prominent and highly visible. Even where the wires connect to it is pretty easy to see. But I'm a slender guy so it is what I expected.
type of device

2 lead pacemakers are considerably smaller and therefore easier to hide than CRT (3 lead pacemaker) or ICD's. I have a pacemaker, am medium build, you can't see mine at all.
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
depends

It depends on your build and where they put it. It will settle in over the first months, up to a year. Most of us don't have a lump once it's all healed, but some do.
