Pain level

3 days Post Op... Pain on a scale of 1-10 is intermittent at about a 5. It’s like a tooth ache. Hurts more when I lay down at night. I was given hydrochodone day of surgery and released w otc Tylenol. So far I’ve taken 800 mg once or twice a day since Tuesday’s surgery. How about everyone else?

Same

I was about the same.  Extra strength Tylenol did not do much for me.  Did not take anything stronger.  Ice helped then heat.  Did that several days.  Do follow your doctor's instructions about moving your arm and shoulder and wound care.  Walked my dog a lot more frequently to help keep my mind on something else.

They gave me a Percoset in the hospital (overnight because I was dependent) and took home 25 Percs.  Took nothing.  By the time I was released, it felt about the same as a sunburn.  The only pain was when the wound and immediately around it came in contact with something.   Still somewhat painful to the touch (six months later).

Thank you for sharing, regarding still painfully to the touch 4 1/2 months later. Mine is also, and I am still padding if driving a longer distance for seatbelt.

I could have had an opiod but opted not to. Tylenol really did nothing for me until about the 5th day when it begain to take care of the pain. At about day 8 I stopped it too. What helped the most for me was arnica and rescue remedy the first few days. Ice didn't seem to help much either but then they gave me a "no sweat" ice bag so I wouldn't dampen the dressing so it wasn't that cold.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
