3 hours post surgery

Pacemaker is in and wow do I feel great!

opted for almost no sedation just 10 micrograms of Fentanol and it was a walk in the park.Hardly felt the local being injected, chatted with the doctor during the procedure and that was it! All over in 45 minutes

Welcome to the group!

Mine was equally uneventful, though a little longer because of the AV ablation, and I felt great too. Almost euphoric. That lasted about a month, then i slipped back for a couple of months. I've been "normal" since, which is a lot better than before the pacemaker.

Yay!

I too felt better as soon as I woke up, and by the next day, I had next to no pain.

You'll probably heal quickly and easily too.

Your story is wonderful, and thank God, not really unusual. :-)

Thanks

Thanks for all the support

in my experience with this journey nothing sedates rationality like large doses of opinions from people that haven’t experienced it themselves

it helped me immensely to read these posts and encouragement from you all

the only difficulty I’m having is trying to get a comfortable sleep position feel I only nodded off for a few hours last night it I’m sure it will get better as time progresses

Sleep

by AgentX86 - 2018-08-28 22:47:13

I slept in a recliner for two months after the surgery.  We put a recliner in our bedroom when I had the CABG surgery (used it for five months then).  I'm a stomach sleeper and the recliner kept me from turning over on the pacemaker in my sleep.

Congratulations!

I'm 12 days out and doing well. I had quite light sedation too and my EP told me exactly what she was doing which was fascinating. The moment she connected the leads to the pacemaker it felt like such a great change! Having a steady HR that responds to activity is like a miracle.

As far as sleep, they gave me a sling with a waist strap so that when I am in bed I can't move my arm over my head or jerk it. This seems to give me the security that makes sleep easier and I haven't had any problem. My EP wants me to wear the sling while sleeping for a month. In the morning it only takes a few minutes to loosen up my shoulder.

Great!

Glad your surgery was quick and easy. Mine was too, I was awake the whole time, had a local and fentynyl IV, and it was all done in under an hour. You are lucky to have already discovered this site for support and information!

My pacemaker installation was not planned at all- the morning of my surgery, I had no idea I had any heart issues, and 7 hours later I had a pacemaker, which saved my life. I just found this site today, 6 days after my surgery. Good luck to you in your recovery!
