PM Scarring

Hey PMC!

I had a pacemaker implanted 2 months ago and my incision has two keloids small. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about those Silicone Strips? Do they work? My cardi said no? I'm healed on the inside just a little slowly on the outside

Any Feedback on this?
Thanx!

I ended up with a small keloid with my PM too. My doctor suggested Mederma cream. She said don't use it if you are allergic to onions because it is made from onion skin. I tried it but my site got itchy while I used it so I quit. Michelle

PM scarring

I used the silicon strips on my first PM, I think it helped a little but it was difficult to get a good seal, I haven't used anything on my 2nd PM though and I have a little keloid too. I would agree with the above post about using the Mederma cream, I used that on another scar with good results. The cream is also a lot easier to use. I just had my 2nd PM in Dec. 2006 so my site is still tender but I think I'll use the Mederma cream when I'm ready. Hope that helps some, good luck and let me know how it goes. Pat

No luck here......

Well I have gotten 3 large keloid scars from my surgeries and have tried everything from vitamin E to $40 scar solution pads. I thought the pads were helping, but after awhile it was clear that this just what my body does in response to cuts and I am better off saving my time and $$$. Now, there was a cardiac nurse in my yoga class who suggested that a dermatologist could use some type of injection on the site up to a year or more after the surgery and help to reduce the keloid scaring. I haven't looked into it.....Wish I could be more helpful.

It took a while...

I had pink, raised scarring for the first 4 months after PM surgery. I figured it would always stay that way. But after 2 more months they were gone. They stopped itching then, also. I don't know why it took so long, but evidently that is just me. So hang in there..... - -Suze - -
