Hi. I’m fairly new at this. I had HIS BUNDLE, 2 lead pacemaker implanted just 4 weeks ago.
I had the glue over my incision instead of bandages and I did leave on for over a week.
My question is, how soon can I start to use Mederma or silicone patches. The area is still very sensitive and sore. I find myself using gauze w loose fitting bandaid to keep some clothing from irritating it. Seatbelt is still a problem and use towel to cushion.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Incision area is bumpy and I know from plast shoulder surgery that silicone patch and mederma can help smooth out a scar. I just don’t want to cause other issues like irritating it further because I started too early.
thanks

Seat belt irritation

I bought a "sheepskin" cover for my seatbelt from Amazon. I adjust it so the cover goes across my sternum and ends before the pacemaker. This keeps the belt from touching the area around the pacemaker. I noticed a seatlbelt cover made for pacemaker patients on the "shop" in one of these sites. You might check that out, too.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
Scar care

After four weeks, the incision should be completely closed. No problem putting something on it to help the scar.
I tried Mederma and didn't see any difference. The sensitivity gradually went away on it's own.
I didn't use it, but some people swear by Bio-oil.
