It's usually 4-6 weeks, but that may change since it's been reconnected once. You might want your therapist to give a quick call to the doctor's office before continuing.

If they talk, hopefully they can come up with a short term solution to keep you out of pain until your mobility is back.

The only thing you can't do is raise the arm or lift more than 5-10# (doctors vary on the limit). We can't do tens. Other than that, you should be able to do whatever you feel up to.

Yes if i can make the pain go away then i can move around. But my dr told my husband to rest so every time i get up he sends me back to bed which makes my back hurt from not moving . 5-10 is what is aloud but he said try not to lift 10 keep it closer to 5.im at the point now standing hurts to where is the light every one says theres a light at the end of the tunnel  im still looking lol thanks ill try to get awholed of both place to see if we can meet in the middle for therphy

staying in bed

There is no reason whatsover to stay in bed unless you've got a lot more going on than just needing a pacer! Do you know why the doctor said that? Was it because of the lead dislodging? It's nearly impossible to dislodge a lead from moving around. Perhaps your husband misunderstood? Don't go for a ten mile run or anything crazy, but there's no reason why you can't be moving around mostly normally. I was out walking the day I was discharged, with my doctor's blessing. At the very least, I could call and clarify that he understood correctly.

I have COPD and on oxygen 24-7  dr said it was from all the coughing so long and hard is why my leads came off. So once i start moving around i start coughing . Plus i caught a cold befor i got my pacemaker.  Ive gone threw the ringer this month cold first copd flare up from the cold then a pacemaker .when the dr put in the pacemaker he took out the loop recorder since i didnt need it any more.  The longer i sit or laydown the more my sciatic gets upset is there a winning battle im afraid not any time soon

Yoga stretches for sciatica

Sitting is terrible for sciatica! But I can see where the COPD puts you betwee the devil and the deep blue sea. You probably aren't comforable lying flat, and wind up in a semi-sitting position.

There are some simple yoga stretches that can greatly help sciatica, and don't involve large movement of the arms. You don't need a lot of strength to do them. Most are performed lying on your back. Some yogo teachers will come to your house.

Yes i am every time i ask the dr nurse she says no you cant do that. So frustrating. Laying flat makes me cough sitting  hurt my back  my normal sleep habit is sleeping on my left side with my left arm above my head  lucky i have a adjustable bed so im on my back with my legs up and my back raised up the keeping a pillow on my left side so i cant roll over that way. I had my left knee replace twice in 2 years 1.5 year out from the last one which didnt take. My husband  keeps telling me to stop falling apart lol i wish i could. Ill have to look into yoga for some relief on my back thanks for the info .
