Arthroscopic knee surgery/knee replacement & pacemaker w/AV node ablation

I have put off knee surgery for 15 years on and off since it got better with cosamine and hyaluronic acid supplements.  However, now it's been more bothersome.  Had MRI before pacemaker 2 years ago; but can't have MRI anymore!  Knee surgeon prefers to have MRI to see what he's in for; xrays shows knee cap pretty shot and MRI showed torn meniscus and meniscal cyst 2 years ago.

When the shooting pains come, I want to get knee surgery.  Got cortisone and bursar shot 2 days ago, so waiting to see if helps.  With 13 days travel coming up, I'm nervous about keeping up with ship/train/bus/air challenges.  I have to decide if I want to get knee surgery now so I can get it done in summer and recover before next trip in the Fall.

Anyone have similar concerns?  Suggestions?  Recovery and process with being on Pradaxa and no MRI.  T

Thanks for your help.

If your pacer is only two years old, there are places that can safely do an mri on you. You might have to do some research to find one, but more and more facilities are doing it.

Could you schedule it now so you're on the schedule then cancel if the shots help? Fingers crossed the shots help and you have a great trip!

MRI

Like TraceyE I think you probably can have an MRI. You might have to advocate for yourself, or travel to where it can be done, but it's being done more and more frequently.

See the post MRI Scan by Raymer which came in after yours.
