Hi all,
I am on my 5th pacer and am 21 years old. I had my new one put in last June and am still recovering... This one is under the muscle, and this recovery has been SO much worse than previous ones. I have full range of motion and strength back, but the site still bothers me on a daily basis. My doctors gave me some cream to put on it, but it doesn't seem to help much. Anyone else experience something similar? I'm going crazy... I feel an internal itch that doesn't go away or sometimes the area just feels really raw. Thoughts? My doc says its not an infection, allergic reaction or erosion. He thinks its still my muscle but isn't helping me cope much. What do you guys think?

Nine Months Post Op and Discomfort

Hi DaniyalRoshan,
Yes I have daily discomfort also. This is my first pacemaker and it is placed under the skin on right side of chest. The PM is working fine but the leads definitely protrude under the skin with one causing a sharp little bump that is irritating, burning and stinging and sometimes feels raw especially when clothes rub against it. Certainly limits my arm movement. I use an ice pack alot which helps. My PCP said it feels like there is a loop in the lead. The EP who installed it gave no explanation. I am seeing a different EP now. No infection but need to look out for that. I will give it a few more months to do what I'm not sure....maybe settle into my skinny chest more, then talk about a revision.
I can relate to what you are going through and wish you well.
