Power boats a problem?
I have a question...Have any of you been on a power boat since getting your pacemaker? I'm supposed to go on my sons' boat (a 19 footer) next month and I'm wondering if I should be concerned.
Thanks,
Suze

Should be no problem. It wouldn't be any worse than being in a car. Have fun! Bowlrbob

Hi Suze, as long as you don't hug the engine you will be fine! I own a boat and also work on boats almost daily. I have had my pm just over a year now and no problems with it on the boat(or anywhere). If you do go out on a boat with radar you are advised to stay away at least 3 feet. Enjoy the day!

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. I think I will just try to relax and enjoy the ride.
And Valerie....I used to drive a boat (mine) quite often but that was 30 years ago. I loved it! Most of the time others on the lake moved out of my way. LOL .....Except those pesky fishermen. LOL
Thanks again,
Suze

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.

Suze,
If it has an outboard engine stay about the middle of the boat. If it has an inboard engine stay close to the front of the boat. The engine(s) will create a electromagnetic field that could affect you PM if you are too close to it. Keeping a 2 or 3 feet between your
PM and the engine should make things safe. If it were to have an effect on the PM probably all you will notice is an irregular heart beat, or a funny feeling in your chest. I wouldn't be concerned unless it caused chest pain. If the irregular heart beat happens or the PM acts up they should return to normal within 15 to 10 minutes after you leave the boat.
Don't forget your life jacket. (Just kidding)
Have fun and don't worry about that PM.
