Beeping---I'm freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!

First--I am NOT currently beeping!  Second---I do NOT have an ICD

I came home from work the other night and saw that my Latitude box that sits by my bed was not working properly. I went through the steps but it wouldn't connect. It was a Friday night so I unplugged it till I could call on Monday. I forgot till way too late to call and connect with their help line but I wanted to call and get their hours of operation. I did. Their message gave me their hours and I was just about to hang up when the message continued, "If your device is beeping contact your doctor immediately. " I FREAKED OUT!

You see a few months ago I was on my way to work, sitting at a stop light and I heard beep, beep, beep. I swore it was coming from my pacemaker but then thought that was impossible since "surely someone would have told me if the thing beeps!" Well, it did it once more a few seconds later and then it quit. Even though I had the windows of my car closed, cell phone off, I thought it had to be something outside the car and never gave it another thought.

I saw my cardiologist about 3 weeks ago, long after the incident, and he interrogated my device and said I was great and I had 15 more years of battery life---"see ya in 6 months". No. I didn't mention it because I had convinced myself it couldn't have possibly have been my PM. I feel fantastic. BUT---I am now totally freaked out as I said. I've searched the Internet but anything to do with "beeping" is in regards to an ICD which I DO NOT have.

I left a message on my cardiologists' email portal so I guess I'll just have to wait and hope they actually read the thing and call me tomorrow.

I just needed a place to PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I've searched the forum and pretty much any time this topic has been brought up the only advice was "call your doctor". I get that. But...I still needed a place to vent.  Thanks!

BEEPING PM---UPDATE!!!

by verne8 - 2017-10-24 12:33:03

As soon as Boston Scientific opened I called and gave them the model and serial number of my PM. They told me my PM is incapable of making any external noise. Shortly thereafter I received a message back from my cardiologist telling me the same thing and assuring me that when I was there 3 weeks ago everything could not have looked better.

Thank you all for your support. A special thanks to Robin1 for hanging in there with me!!!!!

You folks are a gift to me.

Beeping issue SOLVED!

I called Boston Scientific, read them the number of my pacemaker and they told me it was incapable of beeping! They also told me that it is generally ONLY defibrillators that will beep. They said they would not excude some PM from beeping but they would be an exception not the rule. Just FYI  in case anyone wanted to know.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
