Does anyone know if a CRT pacemaker can spontaneously change its resting rate from 70 to 80 on its own? I noticed that has happened with mine, and the pulse pattern has gone from every beat being of equal strength to a strong then weak, strong, then weak pattern. Is this just a matter of having the tech reset it? The fact that this has happened on its own is disturbing. Any help would be appreciated!

Strong Then Weak

Your PM will keep your heart rate from falling below a set level. For many people, their PM is set to kick in if their heart rate falls below 60. The fact that you notice alternating strong and weak heart beats suggests that you are experiencing AFIB. Or, your heart rate can be going up naturally as a result of things like your activity or stress level. A PM does not prevent your heart rate from increasing. Are you taking medications for heart arrythmias? Also, some BP cuffs have an indicator that shows when your heart is in AFIB.
