I am a 66 year-old female in pretty good health. My original diagnosis in 2003, was sick sinus syndrome, with implantation of a atrial lead and device. I had my second (ventricle) lead and Medtronic device implanted in 2015. Since that time, I have been experiencing awakening at night with racing heart, sweating and a feeling like I want to vomit. My cardiac doctor has yet to figure to figure out what is going on. If there is anyone out there with similar symptoms and/or possible solution, please let me know. Much appreciated...

Check with your GP also, don't assume it's the pacer.
Is it the same time every night? Some of them are set to do daily checks. That could account for the racing but not the other symptoms.
You know you're wired when...
You fondly named your implanted buddy.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
I suspect your Dr will say "Time for a monitor"

If he/she finds atrial fibrillation, it's not unusual. According to scientific studies, ventricular pacing that bypasses the cardiac conduction sustem (conventional pacing) can cause atrial fibrillation and heart failure in 10 to 13% of patients. The solution, normal ventricular activation via atrial pacing only, or if the ventricles must be paced, His bundle pacing as can be searched on Googled or seen on His-pacing.org.
