Possible pacemaker implanted

I've been having some sort of weird problem all my life. My cartiologistdiologist just found out I have mitrial prolapse and have tachycardia sometimes with high blood pressure. It's not always but I get week and tired when I do. He put me on altinolo which cause me to panic because it feels like my heart beat is almost nonexsistant. So, the altenolo is causing my bradycardia which I am at 41 beats per minute. I wore a monitor and it showed pauses and low heart rates. He is thinking pacemaker but is going to have me do a cath to test electrical impulses to see if I need one. If I do, I'll wake up with one. I am freaked out!! Do I need this? I quite taking my altenolo and I feel better but had an episode today. I get this tight feeling in my back behind my heart when I have these. Does anyone have suggestions?? I'm halfway thinking about putting it off until this fall. I work outside and own a business. I can't be down for several days with something and not do my work. It's very physical.

Possible Pacemaker

I'm brand new to this terrific club, and am not a physician so don't have near the expertise of others here... But, pls try not to panic and instead ask for more explanations and information from your cardiologist, such as alternative med(s) to Atenolol for treating your blood pressure.  After many years on that med, I was changed to others for various reasons and conditions, bradycardia being one of them. You may have a combination of conditions that require specific treatments, which can be tricky to balance due to varying interactions. If needed and you can do so safely, consider seeking another opinion and ask about all options. That said, it's usually unwise and can be very dangerous to stop/change meds without doctor advice, so try to speak with your doctor(s) asap. With your stated symptoms, you could be prone to serious heart damage soon without taking proper actions, so don't put off consults, and seek urgent help if aches worsen and linger (like 911 instead of self treating). Be careful, and best wishes.

Pauses

Pauses are not a good thing and pacemaker surgery is a relatively easy surgery. You will feel 100% better after recovery. Good luck.
