Has anyone had a lead go bad? I just found out, a lead in my PM may need to be replaced, or, more likely have another one inserted. I got my PM and leads (duel) in 2009, so it is well implanted in the heart wall.
Thank you

I have surgery scheduled this Friday to remove a Linox lead and Biotrink device. I will have a S-ICD implanted to replace it. Had multiple inappropriate shocks and suffering
Any advice?

I got my first pacer 30 years ago, on the first replacement 23 years ago one lead broke. They left it in there and has been in there capped no problem. I am facing pacer number 5 in the next few weeks and they/we are debating the what if we cant fit a fourth one in the left to either tunnel over one to the right side or remove the unused one to make room. happy to see a few other folks have had them removed no problems.
From the discussion the day with the doc it didnt really sound like number of leads stuck in the heart is aproblem, there is a value they dont want to overload and the biggest deal is the vein then want to come down in so if they cant fit it along with the other two you have then you will get the same talk I just had (and/or they will make a game time decision for you, but I recommend you get involved right now and know what the plan is).

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.

I had a fall and my collarbone broke and sliced through one of my leads of my ICD which had only been in 2 years. They took 4 hours to remove leads and 3 and a half hours to put new ones in and new ICD.Stayed over night in hospital and went home next day and recovered well after a few weeks
