Echo's are not the most accurate method of determining your EF, it's a quick and dirty procedure that is also cheaper for the insurance companies. Additionally echo data is highly subjective and subject to interpretation. My doctor and the technician come up with different answers using the same data. What is really important to you is how you feel. Don't focus too much on that number

A 2D echo is not as accurate as a 3D echo.  The 2D was about 5-10 percent lower.  I then had a MRI and the results were 1 percent different between the 3D and MRI.  Different doctor's read the 3D and MRI. I have had repeated testing over the years with EFs ranging from about 25 to 45. The EF trend over the past few years has continued down and I have started having problems catching my breath and almost blacking out, so now I have an ICD.  Agree that all these numbers are only as good as the doctor's reading them, but also watch the trends and other complications.
