I don't get it!I just used my pulse / odometer . The tech daisy pacer was set for 60, I just got a reading of 57,58 59, then 60 (took a few seconds) Is the thing working right? I don't want to call dr with this, by the way I am just sitting up in bed! Not doing anything. I thought this thing preventing your pulse from going lower? A puzzling thing, thank you in advance for your help, ileen

First of all, stop taking your pulse all the time! If you feel bad, go for it, but otherwise try to resist the temptation. It'll just make you crazy. 57 is close enough to 60, totally acceptable. It's not set in terms of beats per minute, but rather one beat per second so if you go a second without a beat, it kicks in with pacing. Over the course fo a minute, it doesn't always work out to exactly 60. Also, there can be little weaker beats between the strong beats that don't get counted by a monitor. Last, monitors aren't always 100% accurate. If it's under 50, then it's time to ask some questions. As long as it's close to 60, it's fine.

Put the monitor away, get off the computer, go get some fresh air! Trust me on this :)

Sparrow, you are right, I can't let myself get consumed by this thing. No charts for me. Well, just the one about getting off my gerd med. But that is just cutting back on a pill. I was doing that with my fit bit today, trying to get to my goal of 3 weeks ago!not gonna get there. But, as you all say, it's a marathon not a sprint!Thank you all again for being here for me and everyone!!Hugs, Ileen( doing my coloring and not obsessing today, ) trying!!

My lower rate is set for 70 and it sometimes reads 68 or 69.....like Tracey said, close enough. Could be a weak or skipped beat.

So for now, tuck the monitor in your drawer and back away from it.  :)

Let your body and mind get adjusted to being paced and having a pacemaker before you worry about using the monitor.

Baby steps Ileen...that's the best way to go.

Resting HR

I've got a Jawbone step counter (like a FitBit) that counts resting heart rate. My resting heart rate was always 45 - 47 or so before I got my PM last week. My PM is set at 50. I've seen it go to 48 recently but I assume the step counter is not perfectly accurate.

I'm okay with that. If it dropped to 30-something, like it did when I was diagnosed, then I'd worry.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
