New to the club!

Hello all,had my dual pacemaker installed yesterday, and a bit delicate today!I was just wondering how long it take's to start seeing the benifits? Also I was told that I was fluctuating between wenkebach and stage 3 before the pacemaker was installed which I found quite confusing as I though you would only be one or the other?Or it would've made more sense if it was stage 2 mobitz 2 and stage 3 swapping and changing and not stage 2 mobitz 1(wenkebach) Any advice would be greatly received, many thank's Christian

I don't understand the why's but I have the same thing. It's common to have the signal break down in more than one place, either some or all of the time. Basically, we have faulty wiring!

Thank's for the reply, how long does it take for some of the symptoms to subside?

The settings they send us home with are a good guess. No two of us are alike so it can taqke a few tries to fine tune it. If they work for you, you could be feeling great as soon as you bounce back from the surgery. If it takes some adjustments (which is common with younger, active patients) then it can take a little longer. Most of us are feeling our old selves in 6-8 weeks. What symptoms are you still having?

Fatigue

Still feel fatigued and get the odd flutter which is about freaky! Are we able to drink alcohol after the dust settles, especially with Christmas on the horizon! lol

cheers

Yes, we can still drink :o)  Meds would be the main reason why alcohol is a bad idea. If all you have is a pacer, do what you want.

I would expect to be tired for at least a week or two, as long as a month or two. It takes time to get the anesthesia out of our systems, pain meds make us tired, and even tho it's a minor surgery it's still a shock to the body. I was back to my normal schedule a week to ten days later but napped pretty often for about a month.

You know you're wired when...

You make store alarms beep.
