Both my leads are now going south. I'm scheduled for lead extraction Jan. 5. A coupe of the people running the tests mentioned that the pain would be a lot worse than in the past since there would be scar tissue and the removing of the 4 leads. My first pacemakers were on my right side. Pacemaker now on left side. If I had it to do over I would have left the pacemaker on right side since those leads were still working great.
I had the usual swelling and soreness when the pacemakers were implanted. Some have gone through this before and I would be grateful to hear your comments.
Thanks.

I had my 3 leads and ICD ripped out after 10 years. Two of the leads were helix style contactors, ie screwed into the heart wall. I had absolutely no pain and didn't even take aspirin.

Are they removing the leads from both sides?
I didn't have leads removed, but I had scar tissue cleaned up and a new lead added. It hurt more than a normal replacement but not as bad as the first placement.
Good luck!!!!!
