One cardiologist recommends biotroniks, and another likes Boston. I am a caregiver for my very active 91 year old dad. He will be having the procedure in the next few days and nothing is decided yet, even where the surgery is going to happen. Any advice is welcome!

I have my 4th Medtronic pacemaker. Each has lasted an average of 10 years. Never a problem. They are the largest pacemaker manufacturer with St Jude being 2nd and Boston Scientific 3rd.

Medtronic RVDR01. NEVER had a problem like many of the horror stories I read here. Also a great cardiologist helps too.
Works with MRIs, CAT scans, and EKGs.

Do you know why he needs it? All of them are good, all are dependable. Some are better for some lifestyles and conditions but there is no one size fits all. More important than which device is chosen, is who is going to program it and maintain it. Go with whatever the doctor who will be giving him his follow up care prefers. You want whatever one his doctor knows best and has good reps nearby who have a good relationship with. Proper programming can make the difference between feeling ok and feeling great.
