Surgical site healing question
This might be the same for both PM and ICD people. I had an ICD implanted just under 5 weeks ago and everything has healed up nicely and I feel 100% but the surgical site above the ICD is still redden and discolored from the rest of my skin color.
It's not infected or anything, just darkened from the recent surgery. Does this discoloring go away eventually or does it stay discolored because of the ICD underneath? I realize the scar itself will never go away totally.
I've never had surgery before so this new to me.

It's more of a bruising or hematoma over the ICD itself. It's gotten better as time goes by but was wondering how long until it goes away. Thanks of the answer.
As for the sun, I read up on all the sun exposer issues. As a matter of fact I was hoping to go to the Caribbean in a month or so but realize that covering the implant area will be important.

Ive had 9 surgeries over since 2011. 2 were at the same site, same scar. Ive had many different coloration issues, depending on the location. Some are discolored, some are completelt devoud of color and refuse to take on the surrounding skin color....even after years. Just ignore it. In a year look again....youll know then wut to expect for life. It is gonna be what its gonna be. Hope youll be able to cope ;) ull be fine my friend

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.

It can take 6 months to a year for things to settle in and fully heal. By the end of the first year, my scars have always been close to invisible, but that will vary depending on your skin. Be super careful to keep it out of the sun that first year, that makes a big difference. You might be surprised how much it'll go away.
I've never heard of darkened area, only bruising the first few weeks. Keep an eye out for signs of infection, you can't be too careful.
