Pet sensing pacemaker?

Hi everyone,
I was pleased to come across this site. I believe the forum will be very helpful as I adapt to my pacemaker.
I have a bit of a strange question but did come across other posts on a similar topic so here goes... My 14 year-old rescue cat is not very affectionate but used to sit on my lap for brief periods and tolerate a bit of patting. However, since I had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted last September, the cat will not come near me and gets up and leaves the room if I come close to him. He still interacts with my husband and our dog just as he always did, and does not show any signs of illness or aging - his behavior toward me is the only change. Is it possible he is aware of electro-magnetic activity or noise from the pacemaker? (The pacemaker is active very frequently - hundreds of times in a 7-day period.)
Thanks for your feedback!
Mary Anne

It could be ....

It could be the cat is sensing a different heartbeat than what it experienced before. You also don't say if you're taking different medications. That could change your body smell too.
Besides, it's a cat. It only has to make sense to the cat. We don't own them, they own us.

Let others believe what they choose, but rest assured you are not imagining that the cat is aware of the pacemaker and is reacting. I had one who took pleasure in bouncing off my defibrillator, pretty sure she was trying to assassinate me.
It is a proven fact that animals sense electromagnetic activity, which is why you hear about rodents chewing electrical wires and shut down power. Most people don't realize that scientists and anthropologists believe that the Pied Piper was a real person and the frequency of his music attracted rodents who he led out of town.
I know years ago we had discussions on this topic here and many members agreed that their pets were affected and acted differently when they got their implants.
You know you're wired when...
Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.
I really don't think so!
