interference by wireless tv listener

I am posting this on behalf of my mother who has a pacemaker fitted. Recently I aquired a device for her which allows her to listen to the TV more easily.
The device works by sending an electromagnetic signal to a receiver which she wears around her neck. The receiver then transmits a signal to the telecoil in her hearing aid , which produces a clearer sound from the TV.
Does anyone have any experience of this type of device and any knowledge as to whether the elelcreomagneti signal would interfere with the proper functioning of the pacemaker

It's probably ok but when in doubt, she should keep it at least 6" from her pacer.

On the off chance it's strong enough to interfere, it won't do any damage. The pacer has a switch, a magnet can pull the switch closed and put it in test mode just like when we have it interrogated. As soon as the magnet is removed, the switch opens and it returns to full function. When in this mode, it paces at a steady rate so it may feel odd but it's not dangerous. But really, they are extremely well shielded and odds are it won't affect it.

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
