Lead issue in 6 days

Hi
Had my pm implanted on 1/28. Everything went great and I recovered very quickly. Feeling much better. Then i started having thumping in my chest - it would start and stop. Before the day was out it just never stopped thumping. I went to hospital and it turns out the ventricular lead was not in place and apparently the pm was trying to do its job. Just kept trying thinking my heart was not doing its job. It was a bit scary. They stopped the programming to that lead for now and Tuesday I go in for a lead revision surgery. Now I'm just depressed. I did no exercising, didn't lift my arm above my shoulder or lift anything. Is this common?

The same thing happened to me. However, it was only one day later that they re-positioned the lead. You should know that it isn't your fault. These kind of things can "just" happen. In the old days they kept you in the hospital long enough to discover them before you were released. Now, they release you so fast, I can see how it can slip through the cracks. It shouldn't have, but I'll bet the lead just wasn't anchored as it should have been.
The good news for you is that it should be a really simple surgery. They'll just relocate the lead and turn you loose again. I understand that going through that whole thing again is not something to look forward to. However, it has almost no risk and should be very quick an easy to re-position the lead.
Hang in there............
