Hi again, will 2 Weeks since pm in and still in pain and pm area very swollen, had bandage off today and nurse didn't seem concerned, but looking at it, it is very swollen, is this normal, also at doctors my pulse was 36 doctor adjusted pm higher and made sure leads didn't come off, he said my heart has an extra beat that is not being picked up by pulse reader, sounds weird to me, but my monitor should be in soon so hope that will make me feel more at ease. Just feel lousy tonight, this is going to take some getting use to I guess.

It depends

I think I may be an expert when it comes down to St. Jude's pacer/defibrillator. My 1st surgery was painful for the 1st week or so and then things calmed down. The problems I experienced came later down the line. I had little energy and shortness of breath, even with the device. I had to get it replaces within 2 yrs and that became a pattern. Instead of giving me a better quality of life it caused extensive problems and almost death. So now my body is full of scars from all the surgeries and I even had to have a triple bypass in 2012 a 12 hr surgery which almost cost me my life. I will stop there but if you want to know more, I will gladly tell you. Bambam

It takes some people longer than others to heal. Just depends upon your body and the situation. I was swelled up for what seemed like a long time. I don't think all the swelling (for me) went down for the first three months.
I'll have to add that I had IV's and I was pumped full of extra fluid so I'm sure that added to the overall swelling.
Everything can go a little wacky right after getting the pacemaker. My heart didn't like being under "new management". Seems funny that I would treat my heart as a separate entity but that's the only way I could describe the events until everything settled down.
Hang in there. Things should get better.
