Hi everyone!

Hi, my name is Kaleigh. I have had my pacemaker since I was a week old. Last year I had my pacemaker replaced. Since I changed hospitals this time and having a whole new dr. This year I've noticed I've had some complications. Like right now if I lay a certain way I feel like my pacemaker is hurting. I am very young and I've had one for years so I know a lot about having a pacemaker but lately I feel stinging and pain. Does anyone else experience this?

Did you do something to aggravate the scar tissue around it? I've done that a few times when I tried something new at the gym, even once when we got a new video game (Wii boxing, my sister and I got a little too excited about punching each other in the head lol).

How long has it been in the current location? I'm assuming it started in your abdomen and at some point was moved to the chest area? Mine started getting achy after the third replacement. When I got the 4th one, a plastic surgeon cleaned up the scar tissue and rebuilt the pocket. That was 5 years ago, it's still comfortable.

It could be lots of things. When in doubt, ask the doc to check it out. Watch for fever, streaking, new redness. Those are all signs of infection. It's uncommon to get infected after so long, but not unheard of either, so if you ever get any signs, be seen immediately.

Pain

One of my leads is 30+ years old. The Medtronic person told me at my most recent surgery a couple months ago that they had to put an adapter at the end of the lead to make it work with the newer units. That was 12 years ago. It had stretched and poked outward on my skin. Well, that adapter caused pain for 2 or 3 years before I adjusted to it. I knew something was different, but didn't know for sure until recently.
Could that be the same with you?

Sincerely,
David

Same issue

I had a PM put in in 3/2014, and have had issues ever since, I have pain at the sight, lump under my arm, and I sometimes feel like I can feel the PM when I toss & turn at night. I am told the everything is fine, but I am miserable, I do have fibromyalgia that causes pain to be increased, but I don't know how much longer I can tolerated this. I was wondering if anyone else has these issues?
