I have an St Jude AICD dual lead device and this is my 2nd device. It is 3 years old now. 1st one had recalled lead and low battery after 5 yrs. Today I experienced 2 seperat audible alarms my wife even heard. I called St Jude they stated mine should vibrate as warning. I sent in a remote interrogation to my EP ad they stated no audible alarm ?? It was heard nby 2 people in 2 seperate are of the home and it came form my chest. I have had 5 cardiacablations and still suffer from VT, A-Fib and A-tachy. Has anyone else experienced an audible alarm and been told they do not exist ?? I am concerned because I have felt bad for several weeks now. I see my EP in 3 weeks.

I would call the doctor and ask to be worked in to their schedule much sooner or, depending on now bad you feel, go to the ER. Are you taking your BP/HR and does your BP cuff show AFIB or extremely high HRs? Better safe than sorry and to err on the side of caution. Please let us know what you decide to do.

You might be on to something.
But instead the surgeon dropping in the chest, something "dropped" (hidden) in the house.
I have run into case where people have put a smoke detector in an attic or other unexpected place.
And there are so many electronic and electrical items that have beeps.

Thanks for the feed back.. I was and am baffled as to what created the alarm.. House was totally quiet and TV's, radios , coffee pot etc off.. cell phone was on counter. my wife even heard it and she can hear extremely well. ?? happened 2 times in 2 different areas of the home. 5 min apart. It was a faint but clear approx. 3-4 second audible alarm. We do have a 10yr old grandson who lives here with us. A Toy somewhere is a great idea to look for but different rooms it happened ?? Remote interrogation did not reveal a malfunction which is a good thing but hard to be convinced as to where it came from. Have read and been told that the Pacer function only will audio alarm not the Defibber. Also have gone to St Jude website and deeply read up on alarms on devices... The good news here is interrogation showed NO malfunction..
I have recently started 2 net new meds and maybe one is the culprit to the way I have been feeling ??
You know you're wired when...
You get your device tuned-up for hot dates.

Alarm

I have been mulling over what could possibly be going on here after reading your post. Most especially baffling is the fact you indicated that people in separate parts of the house could both hear the sound emanating from your chest.
Frankly I know from experience that even devices with an audible alarm, such as certain Medtronics models, are barely audible and patients often take time to even realize the sound is coming from their chest.
In order for an electronic circuit to emit sound, there must be circuits and a speaker specifically for that purpose. As St. Jude's has informed you, their devices do not contain an audible warning. Additionally, when you transmitted a remote download, your doctor did not indicate anything was amiss. Certainly if you were receiving a warning the transmission would indicate a problem.
I finally realized what the likely issue is at play here...the surgeon dropped his watch when he was doing your implant and his alarm is going off.
Alright, maybe you didn't appreciate that, but the point is you need to look at other possible answers as to what is at play here. I don't doubt you, just what your conclusion is.
Good luck tracking this issue down.
