PM getting replaced

I have had a Medtronic PM since 2005. I started feeling dizzy on occasions about 2 weeks ago. I had a PM telephone test done last week. They told me is was time for the PM to be replaced...battery was low.
I don't have a appointment for almost 2 weeks to be checked by the doctor.
Been feeling dizzy on occasions.....pulse drops to approx. 42 BPM. Feeling tired at times. At night sometimes feels like my heart is beating very hard in my stomach.
Am I OK waiting 2 weeks to go to Doctor?? Just don't want anything to happen!!! :)

Call now

The guy who sits next to me at church was in a similar situation as you. Was scheduled for the following Saturday. Called because he wasn't feeling too good. His model stopped pacing on the ventricle when the battery went too low. They scheduled him on Tuesday AM. He was in and out. Went grocery shopping on the way home. "Shouldn't have done that.", he said.

Maybe they won't schedule you earlier but it's worth a call.

The pm switches modes at the end, cuts off extra functions and paces us at a steady beat (usually 60 bpm). This mode lasts approx 3 months. We are theoretically safe in this mode but if we pace a lot it doesn't feel good, tired and dizzy would be expected. They're not likely to do the replacement if it's not an emergency during the holidays so you might have trouble getting their attention this week. That said 42 is not even close to 60 or even 50 so give them a call. Take it easy until you can be seen. It's not unsafe but know that your rate is probably no longer going up with activity so you will tire easily.

Can't get anyones attention

My Medtronic is also out of power. Need replacement but this time of year my Doc. is gone for the holidays. This is awful for me. I have VVS and the rate drop response turned off in power saving mode. I am dizzy much of the time and it is very uncomfortable. It is like intermittent vertigo. Could not get an appointment to even see the Doc till the 29th of Jan. I don't think I can wait that long. Anyone have any ideas how to get the medical community moving faster. I guess I could go to the emergency room.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
