visits

Wow, Sharon will be very happy to read these encouraging messages when she comes back.

I really want to visit again b/c she is just the sweetest person. She emits this light around her; like a glow...then again it could have been the light above her hospital bed, lol jk
Anyway, I'm not sure how much is too much in regards to visiting, so I'm thinking maybe one more time...I'm not too sure....suggestions please? hehe. thanks.

It was quite an adventure getting there though, lol!
I ended up in the Anaheim Hills area instead of the other city, which means that I was about 30 minutes away from the hospital lol. I am the person that is HORRIBLE with directions. So, I use the sun....but this time, it was cloudy! BLAST!
Anyway, when I got there, I realized I didn't remember her last name! So I went up to the patient registration (poor guy, he didn't know what was coming, lol)

I said, "Hi, I'm looking for a patient named..." but he interrupted and said, "Last name please"
"Uh, I'm sorry but I dont know. I know her name is Sharon and she had her knee replaced and she also has a pacemaker....are there many Sharons on the computer record that show they had their knee replaced and has a pacemaker?" lol at this point we're both laughing.
"Well, its kind of difficult to track her....but, is there any other information that you might have?" At this point, I remembered the birthday list I had at home, lol! I would have never thought it be used like this :)
I called home and luckily my dad was there, but then again it took about 10 minutes to get it b/c he, like myself, is not great with computers, lol! Anyway, the admit desk guy typed that information in the computer and within seconds I knew what room she was in.
I walked in the unit where I was met by 2 nurses who said, "I'm sorry sweetie , but you need to have your parents with you. Kids can't be here without an adult."
"Uh...I'm 21" lol
"Goodness Gracious child! You look 13! Never mind then, you may proceed LOL"
Anyway, from here you already know the story.

Woah, long message. Oops. lol sorry.
take care,
~valerie

directions

by jessie - 2007-06-07 02:06:15

i too can get lost so easily. my two children can attest to that. when i would drive them anywhere we never knew where we would end up. i am just hopeless with directions. now you can buy a direction gadget which tells you where to go when lost. i am sure sharon would not expect you to return as it was a fair trek and you get an a plus for effort but if you wish to go again go for it. it is great what you did. way to go valerie. it is hot and humid here. i am waiting for the air to work and continue vacuuming. lol lol as cathrynb says you are a hoot love, jessie

I'm the worst!

I am so bad at directions, that when we get out of a restaurant to go back to the car, I always turn the wrong way. My husband is now directing me, very subtly, everywhere we go, with words or a nudge.
If I know I'm going to an unfamiliar area, some distance away, I make sure I have a full tank of gas, because I know I' ll get lost.
North, South, East and West mean nothing to me.. Give me right, left, straight ahead, and I'm on my way!

I'm sure that Sharon will be delighted to see you again. Being in the hospital, isn' t exactly a walk in the park, and a new face is always welcome.
Go for it, and give her my best. I hope she is recuperating nicely.

Everyone loves company in the hospital. Please wish Sharon a speedy recovery for me.

blessing

yes it is a blessing sharon is right on. he is a tremendous person to have started this. it is so good to have friends on this site and all the support you will ever need and also sometimes you can help someone else. that is what it is all about. so a big thank you and gratitude to blake who has been generous enough to make it happen. jessie

No, now that I think about it, I dont want to.

joking, :)

I didn't go as I didn't want to get her sick since I have the flu. But I guess there's always a phone call; that way she can hang up if she's sleepy or something and say, "that's weird, we got disconnected"...not that I've ever done that... hahaha, jk.

Cathryn, that would be great if you would fly over here to LA. Just tell me what room you are in b/c the psych. ward over here is pretty big. LOL! jk. couldn't help myself :)
On behalf of all of you here, I did give her a hug right when I walked in. Good thing I didn't hurt her though....I'm kind of a klutz. When I was training to be an EMT, I accidentally turned the oxygen tank valve the wrong way and the poor patient had a huge gust of air blowing into his nose from the nasal cannula, lol.

Anyway, Blake, she did mention your name. Specifically she said, "Boy, that Blake is just so amazing isn't he? What a blessing for him to do that website." See? You're famous :)

take care,

You know you're wired when...

You are always wired and full of energy.
