HAPPY BIRTHDAY SMITTY!!!
Smitty: May 15, 1929
Some memorable quotes by the birthday boy:
*** May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had, forget your home address! In simple words ............
May 2007 be the best year of your life!!!
*** I'm sitting on my rump and using only my finger tips. Doing anything less would probably mean I'm asleep.
*** We all have one thing in common, to some degree, that is heart disease.
*** It would be nice if the drug companies would tell us about all the side effects of the various medications. Or at least put on warning labels saying "take at you own risk."
*** I do enjoy finding answers for questions as that means Ill learn something and maybe help someone else.
*** anyone that tells a patient that should be fired right after being horsewhipped. [in regards to doctors saying that youll just have to accept psycho symptoms after PM implant].
*** First, a pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
*** Im about as thick as a bull through my chest area. In fact they could probably put a quart size mayonnaise jar in my chest and it would hardly show.
Take care,
~valerie

People,
It is a time like this that makes me realize how much the words THANK YOU can fail to express true feelings. But not knowing any other words to express appreciation, Ill just say thank you.
I also learned a lot from one well wisher. Valerie, when I posted my little comments, some of which may have been with tongue in cheek, I thought all of them had one-way tickets. I would write them, post them and never see them again. Little did I know that some nice person with good intentions was collecting some of them for recycling. As I look at them now, I see some which could have been misinterpreted and I truly hope no one has been offended. I will be certain of what I'm saying before including a comment in the future.
But, again to all of you, I thank you very much for helping make this a most memorable and very nice birthday.

Smitty, another good one, I hope!!!!

Hi Smitty,
"Thank you" is a great way to express things. :) Do you realize that you have over 100 "thank you"'s comments directed towards you? I started to count, but around 100, I stopped, lol!
I posted those quotes b/c I thought they were cute; it helped in taking the edge off a serious situation, which is a good way to cope (well, for me at least) lol. But you always had something very profound to say, and it helped a lot of people.
And, after you wrote this, no one was offended. In fact, people liked what you wrote :)
Anywho, I'm glad that you have so many pacer friends on here! Geesh, Mr. popular, hahaha
We're all very lucky to call you our friend :)
take care,
~valerie

one of the things that struck me about you smitty is when i frist met you on the site. you mentioned you couldn't do all the things you used to do in life but you could sit at the computer and take the time to get info to help answer pacemaker recipients questions if you possibly could. well that is like turning lemons into lemonade and it is an excellent attitude because you could have said too bad i am retired and i don't have time for these people. iknow a lot of people would because it takes an effort.the successful people i have met in life have been noticed making an effort. so it is wonderful your attitude of doing what you do best. keep that positive attitude. jessie

Hello My Friend,
How in the world did I miss your birthday??? From the bottom of my heart I wish you a time of celebration - not just one day - and many, many blessings. You are certainly one of the greatest blessings to me in this club. Whatever would I have done had I not made your acquaintence this time last year when I first got my PM and found this website? You are always the sense of reason and a tremendous researcher for all of us. You must feel so good to have all of these wonderful wishes sent your way. Shows you what you mean to us! Keep the faith and we will celebrate same time next year. God bless you.
Sharon

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
Happy Birthday!
