Hi,
I know this is off topic but does anyone have a home remedy for a cough expectorate. I have episodes of coughing with a lot of phlegm that I am unable to cough up, which leads to a slight panic attack and I can't catch my breath. I really do not want to take any OTC meds, I have enough problems. Would appreciate your input. Thank you.

Have tried going to a health food store...not the kind in a regular grocery...They have a product , homeopathic, that works wonders for post nasal drip...so natural that my cat's Vet said I could use for him..(You NEVER give cats human drugs). I bet you will find something that may help. You can of course ask your Cardiologist or Pharmacist first, but they as a rule do not like the "homeopathic ways"

Hot steamy shower, run a vaporizor in your room at night. JMHO, but if you are struggling to breath and can't cough it up, you don't need otc meds, you need a chest xray asap. If you can't cough it up, it can lead to bad stuff.
I make homemade cough syrup but it won't help with congestion, just cough and sore throat. Slice lemons and peeled fresh ginger root, pour raw honey over it. You can use it in tea or by the spoonful. I keep a jar in the pantry all winter, refill the honey as we use it up.
