I just had my pacemaker implanted 9/1/2015 and my heart rate went down to 38 yesterday. I went to my Dr's office today and they said the top lead may be loose. But since it has only happened once we will wait and see if it happens again. My question is, is this common?

Your EP or cardiologist should be able to interrogate your PM to evaluate the leads. I was concerned when I thought my HR had gone down to 47 and got a quick appointment with my EP. They interrogated my PM and it was performing very well, no loose leads or problems. I was told that when my heart is in AFIB, some of the heart beats are so light they are hard to detect regardless of the method used to check my heart rate. I had tried both a BP cuff, and manual checks at my wrist and neck. Bottom line is to get a PM interrogation to make sure the leads and PM are o.k.
