Who is living a normal life with icd

I have had my icd since November 2015 and it ended up firing 43 times Christmas Day. Ever since then I have a horrible fear that it will happen again. Since then I have had an ablation and am on medications to keep heart rate low. I am paced at 70 and no matter what it doesn't go above 70 . I don't feel well and am under so much stress and anxiety .
Will my life ever be normal? Are there people who live an active life wiThout the worry.

I have had my ICD for 23 months. Fortunately, I have not experienced a full shock yet, so I can not relate to what you have experienced with your shock storm.

I am as active as my heart disease will allow me to be; some days are much better than others. However, I do not believe that the ICD limits me at all. It is there to provide assistance should my heart decide to take an unauthorized break, or to go into an inappropriate rhythm.

I would suggest your try to find someone who can help you deal with the emotional issues you are facing. Preferably someone who understands heart conditions and ICD's.

Good luck.

Hi L
I had my ICD since October 2015 after a active life of running, cycling and swimming. Had 12 shocks so far and another 3 ablations(7 and 10 hour ablations , mappings ect.) They say that the last 1 last Tuesday was successful. I am on meds as well but not coping at all...anxiety attacks...don't want to go to bed. I have a strong head due to doing a lot of endurance stuff, but lately struggling. BUT I AM SURE WE WILL GET THROUGH ALL OF THIS.
