Increased heartrate in truck

Hi. This might sound a bit odd, but I wondered if anyone else has had the same symptoms.
I am just over 6 weeks PM fitted and have settled into a much easier routine. Going back to work (teaching) tomorrow as the new term starts.
But, had a couple of strange incidents this afternoon.
Sat in husbands truck, he was driving. Suddenly started to feel unwell and heart rate went sky high 164. Felt very uncomfortable until got out of truck Went on our walk with the dog and things settled down - perhaps a bit more breathless than usual up the hills.
Got back in truck and set off to come home and hey presto exactly the same thing happened.
Is there anything in the pickup which could trigger this?
I have been driving my own car no problem.
Just wondered if anyone can shed any light.
Cheers Jx

Motion sensor

Hi Jane!

It's most likely the motion sensor (rate response sensor) that responds to driving in the pickup. When I was on motion sensor only, it responded to bus rides. Other members had it respond to bumpy roads. This problem can usually be solved by re-programming the motion sensor (making it less sensitive) or switching it off. Tell your cardio about it, if it keeps bothering you.

Best wishes!

Yes I have

Per Golden snitch, it's the motion sensor.

I have a Medtronic also. Was over in the UK taking a coach tour. If I sat in one seat in the coach, my heart rate would go up.

My Medtronic has the accelerometer. The motion of the coach in that one seat would set off the accelerometer and kick up my heart rate. Wouldn't happen anywhere else.

Back in the US, occasionally ride in the larger 24 foot trucks. If they didn't have a load on them, the springs would bounce me all over and accelerometer would kick off my heart rate.

I've also had problems when I play tug with the dog. If I hold the rope in my left hand, her shaking can sometimes set off the accelerometer. Also had problems with a reciprocating saw. The vibration from the saw would kick off my PM.

You can talk with your EP and (I think) have him turn the sensitivity down so you aren't bothered as much.

I'm aware of what sets mine off and either stop the activity or hold my PM so it doesn't shake as much.

Hope you can get this taken care of and you can go back to riding.

Ah was also on a bumpy road.

Thanks guys, think you have probably nailed it.
Can't get to EPs till near end Sept, but will keep notes etc and give them a call then.
It's a blooming horrid feeling, but passes quickly enough once removed from the source.
Poor Mick, he didn't know whether to drive home quick, slow or leave me by the side of the road and get my car.
Luckily we had only gone a few miles. Wouldn't like a long round trip though :-)
