Strange EOL

Hi all,

My St Jude pace has reached his EOL some time ago. It always kept his frequency of 80 bps but it seem to power off and on and off again. When it power off, my heart take some seconds (2-4) before beating again (at 30 BPM).

The power up periods of the PM can be of 1 sec like 1 day before powering off again. I heard somewhere that the St Jude's pm at EOL must beat at 65 bpm until it really die. What's going on with mine ? Any idea ?

I'm already in the hospital, the doctor tolds me about the EOL, but it was a mistake, the pace is in ERI.

The pace works, but the leads shows conduction defects.

Hello ! Thanks for your comment. And excuse me about my poor English.

The first thing one must have in mind with PM it that's not a procedure, but ten, twenty or a lot more depending on ur age!

In fact, when doing an implant u r subscribing to St Jude and MedTronic's products for ages... Until u die !

If u r sure to need it, u don't have any choice and that's it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that once implanted, u will never know if ur patology evolves or not...

What I say don't apply to situation where the need of PM is very clear, but others must think at what they are doing.

I don't know what I will do now. My PM is dead and my CAVB seems to have evolved in a intermittent CAVB or an AVB 1 ... Now I've asked to stay at the hospital to be monitored some days. If I don't have any symptom I will refuse the new implant (at least temporarily) and wait some time before removing the old one... If not, I will ask for the new implant.

Changing the device (without complication) is not a big deal. That's true, but I must admit that in my case it's often more complicated than that. In fine, statistically, u cannot have so many operations in ur life without encounter some problems and, I repeat, Ur not having A PM, u subscribe to PMs...
