I have used an electric mattress cover

for yrs including since 2000 when I got my 1st PM. No problems & I am 100% dependent. I prefer the electric mattress pad/cover as it gets my old bones nice & warm esp if put on for awhile before getting into bed :-)

Household appliances such as microwave ovens, televisions, radios, stereos, vacuum cleaners, electric brooms, electric blankets, electric knives, hair dryers, shavers, gardening machinery, toasters, food processors and can openers won't affect your pacemaker.

NEVER get in bed with it switched ON.
I did and my pacemaker went mental, banging in extra beats and I got a stabbing pain around the pacemaker. It was very alarming and I lept out the bed in panic....never again.

So no mate NOT with it switched on.

Can Be Different For Everyone

I have found what bothers one person may not bother another.

My info booklet says electric blankets should not bother my CRT-P, but my doctor & PM tech have always said, if all of the sudden you don't feel well (like when they're testing your PM) then get away from whatever it is that may be bothering you. If you start feeling weird, something is most likely affecting your PM.

Some people and some devices are more sensitive than others, especially if your 100% paced and 100% dependent. But again, some (like janetinak) may not be bothered while others may be.

no problem

I lived at 10,500' for 25 year, and always had an electric blanket with no problems. I even use an electric welder, with no problems. I would try it and see what happens. it shouldn't hurt anything.

Warm and Cozy Blanket

First, I was hesitate of using electric blanket after having pacemaker put in. I was afraid of pacemaker going off so close to wires in blanket. I checked with Cardiologist and he said he it shouldn't be a problem. Still wasn't confident enough to use one but finally did. I did not have any problems which is good. It's the only kind of blanket I ever use. May be different for others.

You know you're wired when...

Your electric tooth brush interferes with your device.
