Where to have the Pacemaker Checked?

Hi everyone! I am posting this message in behalf of my father.. He should have an operation for a pacemaker but then we are awaiting for the help of the PCSO.. Unfortunately, it's too much time consuming. It was my mother who's going to their office but then again, they always say to try another day.. My mom is also a senior citizen.. So, a person with a good heart gave a pacemaker to my brother (so thankful to him/her). We just wanted to ask where to have it checked if it still works.. Your response is highly appreciated.. Thank you very much. Btw, we are located here in the Philippines.

Someone just gave you one?? I really doubt you will find a surgeon willing to implant it. I don't even think it's legal, at least not in the US.

Tracey may be right , she may be wrong ! It depends on what normal medical practice is in the Philippines. I know that in India, and in some other countries, doctors are willing to implant used pacemakers; is yours brand new or has it had previous owners ?

Assuming that it is not new, any hospital which installs pacemakers could tell you how much remaining battery life it has if they are willing to do so. If it has less than 3 yrs of battery life I doubt that anyone would even think of implanting it

Then you have the problem of buying/supplying leads which the doctors are happy to fit to that PM . You need to talk to a cardiologist and / or a pacemaker technician.

Best of luck

Ian

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
