Hi, just looking for some advice and reassurance! 3 months ago I had my faulty leads and pacemaker replaced, the surgeon put my new system on the right side and I chose to have my old lead left in instead of extracted. I'm paced 100% of the time for complete heart block. My old leads were playing up for months before they were finally replaced, had a lot of non capture and pvcs, my heart became very irritated and sensitive. My symtoms have improved massively but I still get a few symtoms, when I bend out my arms or bend over my heart feels as if it skips sometimes, I was just wondering if this could be lead irritation and if anyone had felt like this with new leads?? I'm really scared that the irritation could be coming from my old leads but wonder if this is possible as they aren't connected. Really hoping if this will settle in time, has anyone had the same and it's settled own. Also wondering if my heart could still be very sensitive from all the trauma before the leads were replaced. Really worried I'm going to have to have old wires removed for these symtoms to go. Any advice or your own Experiances would be great to know!

Thank you much for your reply, it's good to know that sometimes you just need to give things time, just hoping I'm not one of those that will need the wires extracted for the irritation to go. When you said leads replaced do you mean they've had them extracted or capped and more added without problems? This problem is making me really nervous as I've had months of problems with old leads, was hoping when had new leads funny beats would completely disappear but seems to be taking time! Thank you Much for your reply again :)

I also find if I breathe up a certain way my heart skips a beat!! Very strange! Has anyone else Experianced this?? My voltage is still high for my own peace of mind at the moment, perhaps it could be something to do with this?

my heart skipped beats before the pm and it still does. My cardiologist did not think it was important.

You know you're wired when...
Microwave ovens make you spark.

I had the same problem you are describing. I was not going to have my device replaced because I felt sick so often when moving. Pretty much fit your description.
Once I had my EP's full undivided attention, he told me he could help me. He implanted a different type of device, I just love it, I am able to move, lift my arms bend over, do things while bending over, just a great relief.
My new device is very responsive to movement, it anticipates what I am doing and adjusts itself accordingly. Not perfect however, I am not feeling symptoms all the time and I can move without getting sick.
My EP is starting to discuss lead replacement, I will probably do the same as you, have the three leads capped and new leads added, if that will work. I am told I have very thin delicate veins, so I am not sure if the EP will be able to thread new leads or not.
I know several members have had their leads replaced and they are not having problems.
Irritation is such a individual thing, sometimes once the irritant is removed the problem goes away, other times it takes a long time for the irritation to leave. Maybe talking to your doctor might help, but I doubt it, this site is your best bet for useful information. Sorry I am not much help.
