I had my dual lead Medtronic pm implanted early Wednesday morning and I was just discharged this morning, Saturday. I did not expect that. Apparently I have very small vein and it was a challenge to get the leads in. Then I was told that my collarbone is shaped differently and the EP had to try to fit the pm in. After the abuse of trying to get the leads in my heart was "irritated" and I had difficulty breathing. They gave IV meds for that and also IV antibiotic. I definitely do NOT feel like running around the block! I am sore and bruised and have horrible oozing sores from the bandage tape. Any hints for healing those sores? I notice a small improvement from day to day but can't imagine doing all of the things I read about everyone doing on here. I know we're all different but I'm tired of being "different" in the negative way. Than you for all of the support you give on his site.

Tape Allergy

I had the same reaction to the tape. I took the tape off and let it air dry. In a couple of days the rash was gone.
Sorry you had to go through all of that....
Recovering

Not everyone feels like scaling tall buildings after their implant or any surgery. You've been through a lot so don't beat yourself up.....it takes time to recover. Usually, we get discharged the next morning so they kept you 2 more days for a reason.
My skin is sensitive to the tape too but nothing should be oozing. I would give your Doctor a call to be sure and ease your mind.
Feel better and give yourself time.

It's very natural to feel sore and bruised (even without the special circumstances surrounding your implant). Take it easy and let yourself rest. Gradually you'll feel better.
Meanwhile, it's possible you have an allergy to the tape. I would call the doctor's office and report this to the nurse. They may want to see you to change the "dressing' and use a different kind of tape to secure it.
I have relatives who are allergic to latex, and I have noticed that when I wear a certain watch with a latex band, after a while the skin on my wrist will itch and feel uncomfortable.
