I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE 9 YEARS AGO WITH EF AT 15%. NOW AM AT 51% THE DEVICE HAS NEVER PACED OR SHOCKED. MY DOCTOR SAYS TWO REASONS FOR NEW DEVICE, PREVENTATIVE MEASURE AND MY HEART BEING WEAK FOR SO LONG. RIGHT NOW AM LEANING TOWARD LEAVING IT ALONE AND REPLACE IT IF ANY COMPLICATIONS ARISE. I AM SEEING MY DOCTOR NEXT WEEK FOR CONSULTATION. THANK YOU FOR REPLYING.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
device or not

Hi,
Do have an in-depth discussion with your medical care.
Why was your device implanted?
Have you and how often have you been at the threshold of a shock? Are there other options (health/safety) for your particular case at this point?
Have you considered and accepted the possible outcome of no device?
Please consider a second opinion for such an important decision.
