Hi...I'm a new member who has an ICD implant since 6/2010 and had an incident yesterday. I'm not sure if my comments are about a malfunction or what but here goes. I was watching the TV and started feeling odd and my heart seemed to be racing. I took my BP and my BP was normal but my pulse was 129. II checked it 4 more times over the next hour and my pulse read 129 every time. I decided to go to my Doctor and he called 911 and sent me to the ER. They did an EKG and then decided to give me some medicine to slow the pulse down. It also was 129 at my Doctors and in ambulance. Then a Tech came in and setup to monitor my ICD and saw what he explained as a software glitch and after a few minutes he changed some settings and my pulse fell back to 65, which is normal for me. I have a follow-up Monday with our heart center. I have never had any issues since getting the implant so this is a little disturbing. I'm in my mid seventies and am pretty tech savvy but "A Glitch" just doesn't get it for me. BTW the rate of my pulse after 11 readings was always 129 exactly. Anybody else have a similar event.

A "glitch" is when my laptop won't load a web site. When my ICD establishes a HR of 129 and maintains it that is a major malfunction that needs to be explained along with what they are doing to prevent it from occurring in the future!

I agree with all of the comments and will inform you all after the Monday appointment. I know all the data was downloaded from my ICD and sent to the Manufacture of my device and a written report is expected to be available to me Monday. My ICD was set at 150 BPM before it would respond and shock at 200 BPM.I'm not going to let this just be brushed off and will pursue all resources till I feel Comfortable and Safe with my device.

No idea what could have happened but I agree with you, "a glitch" is not an adequate answer! I would want to know if the glitch was triggered by the device itself or something your heart did set it off. Good luck with your dr.
Appointment Report 6/29/15

I had to re-schedule my appointment to 7/14/15 because Doctor was 2.5 hours behind when I arrived for my 3:30 Appointment yesterday. I did however talk to mty Tech who told me they changed a setting last Thursday and they still don't have a full Report from the manufacture. I feel fine and take my vitals 3x a day and my averages are BP 111/70 HR 67 over a 5 day period.
You know you're wired when...
Youre officially battery-operated.

Please let us know when you get some answers. A software glitch in a PM device is a very unsettling answer.
Good luck.
