During the last year I have read a lot about several types, global clinical trials are continuing as we speak.

An article at this link shows one inside the model of a heart

There is also a "leadless" pacemaker under development that sends ultrasound energy to a receiving electrode - about the size of a grain of rice - implanted in the left ventricle
My Micra transcatheter pacer

I have the Medtronic transcatheter PM, It was installd on December 15, 2014. It is about the size of a vitamin pill installed in the heart. No wires or batteries, its an all in one device. I received mine because I had A-Fib and it got to the point controlling my BP then my heart rate would not stay down. It was 90 while sitting, and get over 170 when up and walking
This pacer is available to a very small percentage of patients. The nice thing about it is I never felt or feel that I have his implanted . Its been 4 months and I have never felt anything. Medtronic has it set at 70 to 120 bpm.
I don't know if you can find any information on this pacer. I am on a clinical Medtronic study for 5 years, or until they get FDA approval.
If you have another pacer now, you are not a candidate for this program.

If you do a search, this has come up regularly the last few months here, there are even a few members who have them. Those of us with an existing traditional pm are not eligible for them because they don't work if there are regular leads in place. Also, they are single chamber only and not given to anyone dependent. That rules out a lot of us, but it's very cool technology and who knows where they'll take it in the next few years.
