How does an ICD look?
I do not have one, but my doctor's want to put one in me.
This is my history:
I'm 54 years old.
I had "successful" Mitol Valve surgery in late September, 2014. I had no symptoms at all before the surgery. I ran 4 miles the day before the surgery. My heart was getting worse, so I allowed the surgery. At the time my Ejection Fraction was less than 45%, but a portion was going back the wrong way through the Mitrol Valve.
I still have no symptoms after surgery. However, now, my Ejection Fraction is less than 35%, so now they want to put an ICD in me.
Since I am still active, Run / Jog, Bike and Workout I want to know, not so much how it acts (yes I am worried about that as well), but how it looks.
Thanks

Mine is the diameter of a hockey puck and about half as thick. Doc says it should last 10 yrs. Good Luck

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.

I really enjoyed reading this thread. good replys here. I am 70 with my second pm this one a crt-d 3/25 which is bigger than the medtronics from two years ago. But now to my looks. I am 5'7'' about 155 with more gut than I had 7 months ago while I was fast going downhill. looks, I smashed a windshield when I was 24, 59 stiches in my face, the scars were hard to see ten years later, I had ulcer surgery when I was 32 a big scar down to my navel from my sternum, it's in the hairline now, also it was probably unnessary, I had to point it out to the rn's they seemed to thiink they had to observe all my marks the other day and write them on the board on the wall, hernia surgery last dec about a 2 inch scar down low, it only shows when I run naked from the restroom to the front door in the local bar. I started loosing my hair when I was 30 so what I'm still here?
I would get a second opinion though on any surgery suggested by a doctor, now from your significant other that is a different story.
