Effects of viagra & ICDs

Hi, new to the club (really wasn't aware there was one). Had Merlin, my pet name for my ICD, installed the first of this year. At 66 years old, Viagra or Cialis is a real help for me.

I would like know if anyone has used either and received any side effects.

Thanks

Thanks for your comment. From all that I have researched, there should be no effects for ICD users, but, the various meds that may be prescribed along with the ICD may cause some BP problems. I started with a high BP problem (2) years ago and had no problems with Cialis or Viagra. Now that I have experienced A Fib and have the ICD I am in the dark on this. I have an upcoming Dr. visit and I intend to ask and will report my findings as I believe if the BP meds do not effect me, the ICD should have no bearing, but I would like to run it past my Dr..

Again, thanks for your response. This is all new to me and its good to know there is a forum with others that I can ask or perhaps help someone.

My experience has been that most men with ICDs don't have ED problems so no need for a pill ;-)

I do know of one 67 year old that has tried both and prefers Cialis. My doctor when talking about his own requirments of course, thought Cialis might be preferable as it was less likely to cause a blood pressure drop.

As the rare ICD person to use these drugs yourself, what have you thought about them? Did you have any side effects?

Let's face some facts here. ED pills are big business and ED is a problem for a lot of men over 60. A fair number of men with ICDs are over 60. So whether anyone mentions it or not, there must be a lot of 60+ men with ICDs already popping these pills. And IF they were having issues with taking Cialis or Viagra, there would be a lot more postings about the subject.Obviously if you need nitro just to go up some stairs, there is a problem, but in general, if a doctor gives you a prescription for an ED pill, you should be good to go.Now about those 4 hour erections . . . .

Being Real

One the items I like about this site is honesty. Thank you for that.

I must admit that my largest problem is reacting to situations as I did before the heart issues, like jumping up & clearing a drain. This not a really good thing and I am working on it, but upsetting my wife from time to time. I feel great and I should be very glad about it and I am!

Thanks again for being real
