Pacemaker swelling

I had annual pacemaker check the other day and asked could my pacemaker be checked out as there appeared to be swelling around it. I was concerned because we are booked on a long haul flight on 10 February to NZ. The doc we saw wanted the specialist who had done original pacemaker op to see it .we had to return to hosp the following day prepared for an op to resite the pacemaker. However the specialist decided not to operate he thinks it just a build up of fluid that is not at the moment infected. I am now on antibiotics four times a day and had compression dressing on for 5 days. I been given the green light to fly.
If you get anything unusual get it checked !!!!!,

If it's not infected, why the antibiotics? And if there is the smallest chance it is infected, the next thing to do is cultures to make sure you're treating it with the correct meds. That's not something you want to guess at. I would actually talk to your GP next. The specialist knows hearts, not infections. That said, I had the same thing happen a few months after one of my replacements. It was fluid, they said heating pad on low for 15 min at a time. Did it twice, no more swelling.
