Please help

I'm trying to find out if it is illegal to sell a CRT that's never been used, to a private party in the US. My uncle passed away last year before he got to use it. So my aunt held on to it. Not knowing what to do with it. Then finally brought to my attention recently. So I'm just trying to see what's the best thing for her to do. Without breaking any laws of course. Can anybody help us out please?

Do we take it that the device is still in the box ??

To be fair I've never known of anyone in possession of a device before implantation...

We don't usually get the box and bring it home, they have it ready at the hospital and bring it to the operating room so it's sterile. And yes, it's illegal to sell it. There are organizations like Heartbeat International that donated devices for use in third world countries assuming it's still sealed. There are organizations that use them in animals.
