Damaged twice in three years

Has anyone had trouble with their St. Jude leads?
My first set broke in the first year and now the second set has failed.

damaged leads

Just had my St. Jude replaced with Medtronic. Dr. had planned to use the same leads with the new pm. However, one of the leads was damaged, the insulation was torn and it was calcified. Dr. tried to repair but was unable, so he had to close it and leave it in there and replace with a new lead. Dr. said the other old lead was ok.

You're not alone

After 3 1/2 years, on a routine checkup, they saw noise on one of my leads. I came back in for a check with the technician, which showed that I had at least one instance of lead noise every day versus the few that had shown in the past month. Got sent to the ER for admittance for a lead replacement (on a Friday no less), didn't get me off the Pradaxa in time for Monday's surgery, so I had it done on Tuesday. Different doctor (my first one was actually on vacation), and according to my new card, it's a different lead. Don't know what the difference is.

The technician that looked at my old lead said that it had fractured, but the insulation was still intact.

I never felt bad or anything. So it was weird just hanging out at the hospital all that time, feeling fine. My doctor said that these leads are supposed to be good for 15 years.

I hope mine stay good.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
