My heart pacemaker is nine years old. I am 73 years old. I have Bradycardia. Cardiologist, seems to think I still have time for a new pacemaker to be put in. That is ok with me,LOL My pacemaker is set, to not kick in all the time. just as needed..I am just so tired all the time, I need a nap everyday. I feel exhausted. After doing a few easy chores. Washing dishes, making my bed, I need to sit down from feeing tired. I have to nap every day. Then, after nap I cannot sleep til the wee hours of the morning .Could it be my old pacemaker is giving out. Is this tiredness,a sign of needing a new pacemaker, since I moved, the interrogation tests are every six to nine months, they were monthly before I moved. I am not happy with the new changes in healthcare coverage. So what else is new with that, Doctors are not willing to keep office visits, blood work frequent like before new healthcare changes. By the way Happy New Year to all. So good to have a place like pacemaker club, to alleviate my anxieties .Bless you all.

Changes For Us In Healthcare

Thanks for your response, Neff, sorry to hear you are going through the same run around .I quess we are just another patient chart number. I hope there are changes to be made in healthcare for the good of us folks, come next election. Lets hope so.
Thank you all

Thanks for answering my post. I think the insurance companies are doing well, they are making the doctors second guess their diagnosis tests. I am sure doctors would not mind asking for additional tests or initial tests. These days, Doctors have someone looking over their shoulders. Questioning all their patient tests. It's a shame, we have to pay the high cost of health insurance, and not get the good health care, like we are used to .My primary doctor has asked all of her patients to pay an extra $62.00 per month, whether we have to have an office visit or not. This is NOT covered by my health insurances. It is out of my own pocket. If I choose not to pay, I have to get another dr. I am so used to her, she knows my medical issues so well. I just hate to start over with another doctor.
Interesting

Your comment about the Doc is interesting. I live in the U.S. (Ohio) and have gone through several doctors recently. They keep leaving the practice (and me). Not sure what is going-on in other states, but it seems like they just can't make good money anymore (I say "seems", because I don't know for sure). I have noticed though that the health insurance companies keep turning-out higher profits every year.
So what is wrong with that picture? Seem like the docs with all the education and skill are getting pinched. When I looked at my last PM surgery bill, it appeared that the Doc was paid peanuts.
I'd sure like to see that situation reversed. I think the Docs deserve much more! If the Doc's made more, I am sure we'd all benefit. We sure don't benefit from the insurance companies profit unless we own stock in them. I don't own any.

What is sleep?!!
by Alma Annie - 2016-01-06 12:01:24
I am 72. I have sleep issues too but it is not the PM. I think it is my age. I often feel fatigued and have to have a rest after an activity, then start again. I cannot clean my house in one day like I used to. I often fall asleep in front of TV in evenings, missing programmes, (Thank goodness I can catch up on IPad next day.) Trouble is if I nap in the evening I am wide awake when it is time to go to bed. Talking to many people of my age, this seems to be a common problem. Have your PM checked out. If this is not a problem consider a sleep study to see if there is another problem.

Fatique

There are any number of reasons for fatigue.
Yes end of life of the PM it will start reducing functions, so that can cause fatigue.
But in the other thread you asked about sleep start jerks. Could be a sleep issue.
Could be anemia.
Could be other heart problems.
Start with your PCP.
