Hi. I had my pacemaker surgery in July 2014 I was in third stage heart block. I am 100% dependent on it. Since I am, how long does the battery last at that rate?

One thing that is really important when you visit your doctor or get your pacer checked: Ask Questions! When you see your doctor or especially the technician testing you device, make sure you ask every question you have and get every answer that you need. Often times the technician and the doctor are very busy. If I were you, I would write down each question that you have and when you visit the doctor next time, don't leave the office until you get an answer to every question.
You know you're wired when...
You prefer rechargeable batteries.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.

They can give you a range any time they interrogate the pacer. How much we pace is a very small part of how long the battery will last. Devices differ, some are nice and small but have smaller batteries that won't last as long. How we pace is more important than how much we pace, how much juice it takes to get the heart to respond and what features we use. Average is 7-10 years. Some get less, some get more. I'm on my 4th and have never had one last longer than 7 years. Replacements are super easy.
