Heart Ablation Completed

I just returned from the hospital at the University of Alabama. The procedure took 4 and 1/2 hours. It was surreal--I was surrounded by computer monitors, numerous technicians, nurses and the EP. They had to give a general anesthetic to make sure that I did not move. My body was covered with various stickers and defib pads etc. All I know right now is that they say it went well. It takes time for my heart tissue to heal from the radio frequency ablation It is common to continue to have some arrythmias while the heart heals. It will be wonderful if it is so effective that I can stop medications and have more energy. I will post updates as time progresses. The most difficult part was lying on the hard OR table for 3 1/2 hours and then lying on the hard hospital bed and not being able to move for an additional 6 hours to make sure the heparin was out of my body and the incision in my groin was healed enough. Other than that, my throat is sore from the general anestictic tube but I am not experiencing any other pain. I am hopeful.

Also glad that it went so well . I can still remember those long 6 hours when I couldn't move after my ablation.

But I have been off all drugs for 5 years , I hope that your's is as successful.

I feel even better today and am greatly encouraged. I guess you don't realize how weak you were feeling until you feel so much better. I will post progress so that hopefully it will help others if they are given the option of having an ablation and are trying to decide what to do.
