If you're that active

If you're that active, you're going to have to gauge how active to be. Obviously anything that stresses the PM pocket is going to remind you the next day.

I went back to working in the woodshop. At first, could only work for two hours, then would start to hurt, then would stop. If I was doing a lot of stuff with my shoulders, I could pretty well predict I'd be sore the next few days. Other activities not so much but there was always the time I'd do something, not think a thing about it, then be really sore for three or four days. Sometimes the PM pocket would really ache.

Like I said before, warm packs, cold packs, and tylenol were my friends.

Sometimes I'd get a warning and know to stop what I was doing, other times, didn't feel a thing - until later.

Since it was a one-to-one ratio, I wasn't too concerned about the pain. Just remembered what it felt like and filed that feeling in the back of my mind for the next time.

After a couple of months doing more strenuous activity, the PM pocket would sometimes itch. I'd be grabbing the site around my scar and be rubbing it to stop the itching. You have to be careful about that.

I'm at the 1.5 year mark and still do stuff that makes my PM pocket hurt, although not as badly. Most of the time I can do anything I want and I know I'll pay for it with soreness somewhere. When I get up to walk across the room I look like Tim Conway when he played the old man on the Carol Burnett show. Through all of this the PM has been like a Timex watch. It's taken a licking and kept on ticking.

Hope you can get back to exercising at the level you want.

thanks

Eight months out

It depends upon how active you are. I wasn't able to get back to normal activities until seven months out. I started doing more active exercise and it felt like my PM was a disk with sharp edges under my skin. I'd have days where I'd do some exercise, then have to back off for the next three or four days until the soreness wore off. Tylenol, cold packs, and hot packs were my friends until the soreness went away. And, of course, the PM pocket area would ache.

I'm at the 1.5 year mark and still get an occasional bad day where it feels like the PM is a sharp disk under my skin. Laid on my left side last night and I can feel where the PM pinched me as I slept. So it isn't at all unusual to have some pain at eight months (or longer).

Sounds like you're doing OK otherwise.

You know you're wired when...

You have a new body part.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
